Group Meetings

The LAM is an actively social group. Although an associate will be paired with an Observer, all members are encouraged to attend the regualar group meetings.

Saturday Meetings

There are bi-weekly saturday meetings. These are group runs which give associates to opportunity to be paired up, for the day, with a different observer. This will allow the associate to get a different view on the riding and progress. Doing this will also help the associate get used to having different riders behind them - hopefully this will also help on test day.

The Saturday runs start early in the morning and are usually based out of the McDonald's at Sprucefield.

Thursday Meetings

There is a monthly meeting on a Thursday evening. This meeting typically involves a short observed run, or skills session, followed by a gathering where any group issues can be discussed. Once a quarter the Thursday meeting will be used to hold a more formal meeting where guest speakers will be invited to talk about road safety issues. the venue for Thursday meetings is the Masonic Hall on the Belsize road.

New members are advised to get in touch with our coordinator before coming to a group session. This affords the group the opportunity to ensure there are adequate observers on hand to cope for demand.

See the contact page to find out how to get in touch.

Restrictions

Sadly the LAM are unable to accomodate either learner riders, or rider's on restriction (R Plates).

L plate riders should continue their instruction and pass the normal riding test. We would encourage all new riders to get in touch about advanced riding once they have passed their test.

Due to the speed restriction on 'R' plate riders, the LAM would be severly restricted in what it could offer these riders. We would encourage you to practice your riding skills gaining confidence in both machine control and your own ability. As you approach your first anniversary we would encourage you to get in touch so that we can start the process of helping you develop your skills without further delay.
